It keeps a part of your heart with it and keeps it longing to visit again ..as it has been a few years since I went there and here Iam still craving to go back there someday… believe me its not just for once… almost all the people who went to Istanbul has this same feeling… and your beautiful post has just reignited the feeling.. I would definitely plan to go there again as soon as situation will get better after covid…

We did all the tourist attractions Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Hippodrome, etc. Beautiful city. Walked on the bridge at night. Visited again in 2018 but, things were a little different. It was still an enjoyable visit, delicious food. Took a water taxi and it saved a lot of time getting around the city.

Cons: it’s not what I typically think of when I think casserole and the instructions could have been clearer. I probably wouldn’t have made this recipe if I had read the instructions first; I didn’t like how the rice, shrimp, veggies, and Alfredo sauce all had to be cooked separately then combined and cooked again. I was looking for a quick and easy way to meal prep for the week and this was not it.

I am so pleased to have found this post. The food is SO GOOD. Did you do the cisterns? There are a couple of amazing things in the north of the city as well, I will have to look up names – the old cemetery and mosque there are quite beautiful. The old ladies would hand out sugar cubes to everyone so that people would remember their relatives sweetly. Or something like that :) And the Chora? Mosque with tile mosaics – amazing. A lovely trip down memory lane.

I could not resist and am so glad I went. Istanbul is fascinating, as it is both in Europe and Asia and is home to some of the most amazing architecture and historical monuments in the world. It was very easy to walk to all of the must-see sites, the people were so friendly and the food was fabulous. I loved the breakfasts. Most people speak English and USD was accepted everywhere but the public transportation. I highly recommend a visit to anyone.
